The innovative wave of Artificial Intelligence is now investing all sectors: it is estimated that by 2020 it will lead to an investment turnover of $ 47 billion. One of the most fertile fields is surely that of HR: due to this technology, traditional models of interaction between candidate or employee and company are being redesigned, giving rise to new and decidedly more efficient processes.

Vidiemme’s Head of Innovation Giulio Caperdoni, thanks to the subsidiary VDM Labs in San Francisco, recently had the opportunity to breathe this air of technological innovation that is spreading in the HR sector, taking part in overseas meetings with CEO of US companies and startups, at conferences and meetups on the topic.

He thus got to see more closely the emerging HR trends which will increasingly change the work done by Human Resources personnel.

Let’s look at:

  1. Training

More and more companies are taking advantage of Chatbot implementation in different phases: from recruiting, through on-boarding and finally employee support.

In addition to Virtual Assistants designed for these processes, however, the figure of Virtual Trainer is increasingly emerging, or a Virtual Assistant that allows the continuous training of employees.

Thanks to a familiar interface and the ability to access it easily from mobile devices, this solution is in many respects preferable to e-learning platforms, as it can be exploited to the maximum by employees at different times of day.

In addition, the increasing spread of both text and speech conversational interfaces, means that more and more companies decide to adopt hybrid solutions that allow the user to choose the preferred mode of interaction.

  1. Employee Retention

AI can also be used to improve the processes of the entire company that are under the responsibility and control of Human Resources.

Recruiting through Chatbot, for example, not only allows the best candidate to be found, who will then contribute more than another, but can also be used to create Employee Retention, or to look for new talent and ensure that, with special training, employees grow within the company and stay there for a long time.

  1. Future forecasts and performance monitoring

When we talk about Artificial Intelligence we often tend to forget two fundamental components that constitute it: Machine Learning and predictive algorithms.

In fact, thanks to these, companies can now create more accurate predictions of general performance or specific performance of an area or team; foresee and organize turnover and generational change, thus acquiring new talents in time so that they can grow supported by senior figures.

Therefore, companies now have in their hands an instrument which, thanks to the various solutions, allows growth and monitoring of both employees and the entire company.

  1. The state of the art of HR from the States

In San Francisco, thanks to the presence of our Head of Innovation, we were able to hear directly from CEOs of major companies and startups how the implementation of a Conversational Interface has allowed a time saving of 33% during Recruiting.

Participation in events such as Applied Artificial Intelligence or MONage, at meetups and the “AI in Recruiting & HR” conference, was very interesting, and provided direct testimony on the use of AI and how it is generating all that we have just identified as the new HR trends.

Giving new tools to the Human Resources sector is proving to be the right key to allow in-depth innovation of numerous business processes, able to create an incredible advantage in terms of efficiency, time and cost savings and the possibility to grow the best employees within the company.

Finally, it was interesting to note that innovation linked to one of the trends is able, like a wave, to also wash over and have consequences on other areas of Human Resources: implementing a Virtual Trainer allows a company not only to increase the skills of the employee, but also to encourage employee retention, to collect important data for monitoring company performance and to make future forecasts.

It will be interesting to see in a few months how the speed of innovation that characterizes Artificial Intelligence will create new trends and will enrich those that are now becoming concrete.
